Your playlists are about to get a whole lot better with the launch of Spotify in the Middle East today...

Today, global music streaming platform Spotify has officially launched across the Middle East.

The service is offering its entire library to local listeners and its paid version will be available for half the price it is currently offered for in the US and UK. It will, as with other markets, will also offer a free service.

There have been rumours for several years about the launch of the service in the region, however none have ever come to fruition until now. Speaking with Gulf News about the roll-out, Spotify's regional Managing Director Claudius Boller said, "We need to celebrate the Arabic music and the local cultures... and that requires some time. What's quite important is our music curation, including Egypt, the Levant, the Maghreb and the Gulf. We really want to tailor the experience for the user."

The platform is the latest in a string of music streaming sites to cater to the region, including Apple Music and local provider Anghami.

And speaking of music, find out which rap legend will perform at this year's Sole DXB festival.
