A Vivienne Westwood documentary will be released in 2018
Known for her strong design aesthetic and commitment to activism (who could forget her S/S18 co-ed show?), Vivienne Westwood is an icon in the fashion industry. Now, her contribution is set to be celebrated thanks to a brand new documentary.
Titled Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist, the film offers an insight into the woman behind the eponymous brand. Considered to be a true cultural icon of our time, the documentary is set to reveal details of the British fashion designer's creative process, her struggle-filled path to success and, most excitingly, her role in leading the punk era movement of the '70s.
Consisting of never-seen-before footage, old archival shots and interviews with Westwood’s friends, family and collaborators, the highly anticipated film is directed by Lorna Tucker and produced by London-based film company Dogwoof Pictures.
As part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition, Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist will air at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2018. The documentary will then be released across the U.K. and Ireland on March 23, 2018. In the meantime, discover the full list of nominees for the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
