Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming 2016 Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The honour is in recognition of his outstanding film career that has spanned over four decades. Now, he joins the likes of Morgan Freeman, Sean Penn, Oliver Stone and Shah Rukh Khan as recipients of the prestigious prize.
"It's a great honor to be given the Dubai international Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award," said Jackson. "It's wonderful to be included into the Emirates' film community, and I look forward to meeting all of its amazing filmmakers and making many new friends."
Jackson began his movie career in the film Together for Days in 1972 and later earned worldwide acclaim with his role as Jules Winnfield in the Quentin Tarantino-directed classic Pulp Fiction — this went on to earn a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor as well as Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. From then, Jackson has played several iconic characters including Nick Fury in The Avengers franchise as well as Mace Windu in the Star Wars series. He will next be seen in the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island opposite Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston.
Samuel L. Jackson will receive his Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening of the 13th DIFF on December 7. Don't miss his intimate In Conversation session too, which is taking place on December 9 at the Madinat Souk Theatre. Tickets are now available at diff.ae.
