The MTV Movie Awards delivered a host of memorable moments as the fun filled ceremony took place this weekend. The show was hosted by up and coming comedic actress, Amy Schumer, who opened the show with a hilarious take on the year's big films, putting herself in every starring role. The all star audience enjoyed the evening's celebrations, which with categories such as 'Best Shirtless Performance' (winner – Zac Efron of course) and 'Best WTF Moment' we can safely assume that this show doesn't take itself too seriously.

Shailene Woodley was ping-ponging back and forth to the stage to receive awards through out the night, joining the cast of The Fault In Our Stars who won 'Movie of the Year' she also won for 'Best Kiss' for the same film with her co-star Ansel Elgort, who couldn't attend due to his filming schedule. Woodley thanked the crowd on his behalf and quipped that she had just won an award for kissing her brother, noting that the two are as close as family. She also scooped the big prize for 'Best Female Performance'. There is no fault in her star that we can see.

Bradley Cooper collected his 'Best Male Performance' award from the cast of Pitch Perfect 2 dedicating the win to the Chris Kyle, whom he portrayed in American Sniper. Channing Tatum danced up to collect his 'Best Comedic Performance' award for 22 Jump Street, and later joined the cast of the upcoming Magic Mike 2 movie to present.

A special awards went to Robert Downey Jr. who nabbed this year's 'MTV Generation Award,' as presented by his Avengers co-stars; Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johansson who all assembled to present the award and Downey certainly made the most of it. The cast provided a glowing introduction and then all bowed on one knee as the movie star delivered his humours acceptance speech, which contained just the right amount of sentiment. Downy Jr got serious for a minute and said: "In the 34 years that have passed since the birth of MTV, I've grown up, I've struggled, I've failed. I've partied way too much. I begged for second chances and literally clawed my way to the top" The cast then introduced an exclusive first look at a new look at a clip from the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Winners of the 'Best Duo Award', Dave Franco and Zac Efron, took on a scene from their winning movie Neighbours, in accepting their award, which saw Franco do a convincing Robert De Nero impersonation. And, it just isn't an award show without a Meryl Streep win, so naturally she was honoured with the 'Best Villain' award for her witchy role in Sondheim's Into The Woods.
