J.K Rowling's book series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them's first film instalment will be hitting cinema screens in late 2016 with Oscar-winner, Eddie Redmayne taking on the lead role of Newt Scamander. Rowling announced her joy at the casting via Twitter when she exclaimed: "Thrilled that Eddie Redmayne will be starring in Fantastic Beasts. He'll be a perfect Newt Scamander!"

Rowling, who famously signed over the movie option rights to the hugely popular, Harry Potter series, on the proviso that the film used British crew and cast, has seemingly aimed for the same requirements here. She will be penning the script herself, for the story that she says is "neither a prequel nor sequel to Harry Potter." We look forward to seeing Redmayne take on another iconic role, this time of the magical order.
