Jeffrey Karoff’s new documentary, Cavedigger, follows artist Ra Laulette as he prepares to complete a 10-year colossal art cave in New Mexico

Cavedigger - an award winning, independent documentary film - takes a close look at the amazing art of Ra Paulette, a cave digger in Northern New Mexico who creates surreal and beautiful environments inside these dark caves. Director Jeffrey Karoff follows Ra Paulette as he digs into the sandstone cliffs of Northern New Mexico creating cathedral-like, 'eighth wonder of the world' art caves.

Paulette has been excavating caves for the past 25 years, using only shovels, a mattock, and a wheelbarrow - the artist explains, "Manual labour is the foundation of my self expression. To do it well, to do it beautifully, is a "whole-person" activity, engaging mental and emotional strengths as well as physical strength."

The sculptor has completed 14 expansive caves so far, each taking him years to complete. No longer willing to do commissioned works, Ra Paulette is about to undergo his largest project yet - a massive 10 year project titled Magnum Opus.

The documentary is not yet released but available for pre order here.
