Switzerland's third-largest city prepares to welcome the influx of as many as 90,000 artists, art experts and art fans as it ramps up for Art Basel 2015, which will run from June 18 – 21.

Positioned as the "premier international art show of its kind," with hugely successful out-posts in Miami and Hong Kong annually, this year's Art Basel will shine a spotlight on contemporary and 20th-century works across all artistic disciplines from paintings, sculpture, drawings, installations, photographs and video.

The four day art event will see art exhibited from 284 international galleries from 33 different countries including, the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. On display will be works by more than 4,000 artists. To make it easier to navigate, the event is split into eight sectors based on media, artists or galleries, so visitors can explore the offerings a cohesive way.

With a packed calendar of events throughout Art Basel, we have plucked a handful of highlights to mention including: 'Art Basel Parcours Nights Special Opening Evening Event', which involves an evening of special performances and extended opening hours from Antikenmuseum und Sammlung Ludwig, Historisches Museum, Museum der Kulturen and Naturhistorisches Museum to maximise the experience.

'Do We Dream Under The Same Sky?' Is a large-scale, interactive installation on Messeplatz by Rirkrit Tiravanija, Nikolaus Hirsch, Michel Müller and Antto Melasniemi that engages visitors by exploring and expanding upon the idea of hospitality. Various alternative energy models, including a solar kitchen, are used to prepare tea and food grown on site, for a unique snack.

And we love the 'Liste' initiative that has, for the past 20 years, helped to promote young emerging artists, if you are at Art Basel be sure to take a look at these up and coming artists.
