Taschen has just launched a new book that showcases exceptional black and white photography works by Sebastião Salgado, a Brazilian documentary photographer and photojournalist. Aptly titled Kuwait. A Desert on Fire, the book follows the historic events post the US' decision to drive Iraqi forces out of Kuwait in 1991. Stated to be one of the biggest environmental disasters of all time, Salgado travelled to the Middle Eastern country and captured the extent of the blaze.

Salgado is also set to showcase his photographic works from his previous book, Exodus, highlighting migration, which will take place from February 5 to March 19, 2017 at the Kunsthalle Erfurt art gallery in Germany and another exhibition from May 24 to September 30, 2017 in San Diego, USA. In the meantime, discover another historic event, which took place when Donald Trump was elected as President
