Taschen has just released a new visual book, aptly titled Tropical Abstraction by Brazilian painter, Beatriz Milhazes. As tropical as it is colourful, the art-inspired book is a compilation of candid images taken of the artist's paintings, a detailed explanation of Milhazes' work and a year-by-year biography about the artist. Known for juxtaposing cultural imagery from her native hometown in Brazil with western modernist painting, Beatriz Milhazes' Tropical Abstraction book is available in two editions: The Collector's Edition, signed by the artist, and the Art Edition, complete with the signature Mango and Passion Fruit in Lilac and Violet silkscreen print.
