Concerts, ballets, musical
The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) has officially named its seventh season 2017-2018: A Legendary Season. With over 35 new programmes and 55 performances, including opera, concerts, dance, music and Arab-centric shows, the cultural festival will stretch until May 2017, beginning in September with Giuseppe Verdi's much-loved four-act opera, Aida.
"Not only does our new season offer an abundance of performers with legendary reputations, but also it is set to further brand the Royal Opera House as a legendary place where the dreams of civilisations are realised," said His Highness Sayyid Kamil Fahad Al Said, Member of the ROHM Board. "Our diverse programming spans cultures across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, opening a myriad of windows on the world, while inviting the world to discover Oman's distinctive cultural traditions, its talent and its contemporary achievements."
Highlights of the new season include a gala opera in homage to Luciano Pavarotti featuring Fiorenza Cedolins, Sumi Jo, Marcello Giordani and Francesco Meli, a performance by British icon Sir Cliff Richard, a concert by Sami Yusuf, the long-running ballet Swan Lake and the award-winning musical Peter Pan.
