Rare Salvador Dali illustrations for Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ unveiled

A surrealist twist on the classic romantic tale

In 1975, renowned Spanish artist Salvador Dali contributed 10 illustrations to a limited edition of Romeo and Juliet published by Rizzoli, which have now been revealed by a gallery in the US

The unique and vibrant coloured drawings by Salvador Dali are based on one of Shakespeare's most famous stories were featured in a book published by Rizzoli  that had only 999 copies ever printed. The extremely rare publication also came with a separate set of 10 signed lithographs housed in a red slipcase.

Thanks to the Lockport Street Gallery in America  who recently unveiled copies of the illustrations — the 10 whimsical images can now be seen below.
