The Beirut Art Fair has just announced its program line-up for 2017. Running under three major themes – spirit of renewal, young talents and Lebanon's creative climate – the eighth edition of the event will see 14 new participating galleries from around the world including Argentina, Belgium, Italy, Morocco and Switzerland.
Revealing, one of the fair's most anticipated segments in which to discover emerging artists, has also attracted more interest this year. The selection committee has seen a surge in nominations, an increase of 35 percent to be exact, from galleries hoping that the fair will be the platform to showcase their brightest young talents.
Then, an exhibition titled "Ourouba, The Eye of Lebanon" will explore the notion of "Arabicity", specifically how the regional arts scene has evolved through the effects of social and political changes. Curated by London-based, Lebanese-Iranian art aficionado Rose Issa, the event will feature major works by both private and commercial Lebanese art institutions.
The 2017 Beirut Art Fair will run from September 21-24 at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center. In other art news, discover the newly-opened art exhibitions in the UAE.
