Art for a cause: Abolish 153 hosts second art exhibition
Fighting for gender rights
Abolish 153 is set to present its annual art exhibition, the second edition of the event, which will be held to raise further funds to eradicate Kuwait's article 153 — a penal law that has been largely regarded as unfair to women.
"Ultimately our aim is to create a safe environment where mothers, daughters, sisters and wives are protected from all forms of violence and to raise awareness of these violent practices and the legislation that sanctions them," said Lulu Al-Sabah, Founder & Director, JAMM Art Gallery.
The multi-discipline exhibition will feature 40 artworks from 11 Middle Eastern artists including Farah Salem, Maha Al-Asaker, Thuraya Lynn Al Jasem, Zahra Al-Mahdi, Amani Althuwaini, Deena Qabazard, Tarek Sultan, Mehdi Darvishi, Zuhair Alsaeed and Musa Al-Shadeedi. The masterpieces all focus on the same topic of gender inequality.
The Abolish 153 exhibition will be held from April 28 - May 8 at JAMM Art Gallery, Dubai.
