Marilyn Monroe named as new Max Factor ambassador

The silver-screen icon's beauty comeback

Max Factor, the Procter & Gamble Co.-owned makeup brand, has chosen Marilyn Monroe as its latest face and global glamour ambassador, a move that pays tribute to the famed actress, who died in 1962...

Crediting makeup artist Max Factor Jr. with her Hollywood transformation from Norma Jeane Mortenson (as she was born) to a platinum-blonde Marilyn Monroe, Max Factor has now teamed up with Authentic Brands Group – which owns the Marilyn Monroe estate – for its latest beauty project.

The new partnership is to promote the Max Factor brand rather than launch a line of products, with the Marilyn Monroe campaign to see Max Factor spotlighting products that are reminiscent of Monroe's signature 40's and 50's look. The lineup will include its 'Ruby Tuesday Colour Elixir' lipstick, a modern version of Monroe's favourite shade of red, 'False Lash Effect Mascara' and 'Facefinity' foundation.

"Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the 1940s and it's a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry," said Pat McGrath, global creative design director of Max Factor.

Starting January 6, Max Factor will globally launch television, print and online ads and social-media activity featuring images of Monroe as a film star and her original guise as Norma Jeane.
