Panerai debuts new quick release system at SIHH 2018

Coordinating your watch with your outfit just became so much simpler
Along with a range of new novelties, Panerai unveiled a cool new design detail at SIHH today. Buro 24/7 Middle East has the details...

Geneva is playing host to SIHH again this year and some of the world’s biggest brands are unveiling their latest designs that will be released to the public across the next 12 months. Italian brand Panerai is set to release a handful of new novelties which they debuted at the fair today.

The first new release is additions to its Luminor Due collection which feature the thinnest case in the brand’s assortment of watches. The design on the new pieces is a reworking of the case from the original piece in the 1950s. Available in 38mm (the smallest size ever made by the brand and presented for the first time in this style), 42mm and 45mm, the classic piece has been given a modern update thanks to the brand’s new quick release system.

Available for the first time, the system allows wearers to quickly and easily (trust us, we tried it!) change wrist straps to customise their look with a wide assortment of colours and materials available.

The brand also unveiled the new Luminor piece which is an update on one of its most iconic styles — first hitting the market in 1993. The new design is completed with a textile strap that is aimed at a younger market, the brand explained in its presentation to press today.

And finally, this year’s innovation is called L’Astronomo and features sunrise and sunset indicators, as well as a moon phase indicator for the first time which can be set to a particular destination chosen by the wearer. It also has a polarized date desk which has been patented by Panerai and this piece is the first instance it has been used.
