Golden Globes 2019: Red carpet arrivals

See the stars as they arrive
The 2019 Golden Globe Awards are officially underway...

The top names in Hollywood came together in Los Angeles this morning (local time) for the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. Honouring the best in television and film over the past 12 months, the awards are the first major ceremony of the year and officially mark the start of awards season.

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosted this year’s ceremony following their turn as presenters at last year’s Emmy Awards that caused fans across the world to rally for the pair to be given the main gig at this year’s Globes. It’s set to be an interesting ceremony with so many heavyweights nominated for the top gongs. A Star Is Born is expected to take home more than one award in the film categories whilst The Handmaid’s Tale is hoping to continue its winning streak from previous years. Perhaps most excitingly however is Best Picture – Foreign Language category for which Lebanese Director Nadine Labaki’s film Capernaum is nominated (it is the first Lebanese film to appear in this category).

But before the awards are given out the red carpet comes alive with the stars and this year’s carpet saw the likes of Emily Blunt wearing Alexander McQueen, Lady Gaga opting for a full blue look in a Valentino gown with matching hair, Kate Mara in Rodarte, Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein and Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton.
